Job Title : Training Officer

Context:
BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. We partner with civil society, local media and others to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues, and strengthen the media sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities, and is focused on three key themes: governance and human rights, health and resilience.
Overall purpose:
The Training Officer will work closely with project, research and production colleagues to design and deliver effective and imaginative training and outreach materials and activities which build on mass-media outputs aimed at young people. The Training Officer will also work to develop relationships with NGO and government partners; and lead familiarisation and training-of-trainer activities to allow partners to make use of BBC Media Action materials and techniques in their day-to-day work with communities across Bangladesh.
Main Duties & responsibilities:
- Work with partners to identify key needs, both in terms of organisational capacity and the use of media and communication at community level.
- Working alongside production and research colleagues, manage the design and production of creative outreach materials, based on mass-media outputs.
- Design engaging and effective training sessions and training materials (including syllabuses, course structures, session plans and hand out/toolkit materials).
- Co-ordinate outreach and training activities, ensuring that deliverables are on track, on time and to the required quality standard.
- Deliver effective and engaging training for participants from partner organisations, including travel across the whole of Bangladesh as required.
- Mentor trainers and outreach personnel from partner organisations, ensuring that they receive the support they need as they roll out outreach activities at community level.
- Provide timely and accurate forecasting and reporting information for training activities and deliverables.
- Ensure that safeguarding issues are factored in to the design and delivery of training activities, working at all times within BBC Media Action safeguarding policies and processes.
- Work closely with teams across BBC Media Action Bangladesh to ensure that communication with partners is planned, co-ordinated and effective.
The position is based in Dhaka but with travel to training locations across the country as necessary. In general, normal office hours will apply but the nature of the role means that a flexible approach to working time will be necessary.

The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct.
